Use location metafields as dimensions and filters in Analytics
If you store custom data on your locations like store tiers, internal store numbers, fulfillment capabilities, or routing zones you can now use those metafields as dimensions and filters in Analytics.
How to enable it
Open a location metafield definition in Settings > Metafields and metaobjects > Locations and turn on "Filter or group data in Analytics." That definition is then available as a dimension or filter across your Analytics reports.
What merchants actually put on locations
Common examples we see in the wild:
- Store tiers — classify retail locations as Tier 1, Tier 2, Tier 3 to segment performance by location category
- Internal store numbers — SAN numbers, store codes, or vendor numbers for referencing locations in ERPs and external reports
- Fulfillment capabilities — flags for pickup, curbside, delivery, or drive-thru to segment operational analytics by what each location supports
- Routing zones — postal code ranges or delivery areas assigned per location
- Location contact overrides — email addresses or phone numbers specific to a location, useful for store locators
All of these can now be used to slice your Analytics data the same way product, variant, customer, order, and transfer metafields already can.
